At Material Retail, we’re always looking for ways to improve our ecommerce operations and provide a better experience for our customers. That’s why we’re excited to announce the launch of our latest innovation: Supercat.

What is Supercat?

Supercat is a powerful new software that uses artificial intelligence to add product classification and attribution data to items in ecommerce stores. With Supercat, retailers can quickly and easily enrich their product data, making it easier for customers to find what they’re looking for and improving the overall searchability of their site.

How does it work?

Supercat uses advanced AI agents to analyze product images, titles, descriptions, and other metadata. It then assigns each product to the most relevant categories and adds detailed attribute information like color, size, material, and more. This process happens automatically, without the need for manual data entry or tagging. For example, here is what product data might look like before and after:

The specific attributes that Supercat adds can be customized for each ecommerce store. For example, an activewear shop may have attributes such as “Sport”, “Activity”, or “Material”, while a women’s wear shop may have attributes such as “Neckline”, “Trend”, or “Bottom Length”.

The benefits of Supercat

We’ve been using Supercat internally for several months now, and the results have been impressive. Here are just a few of the benefits we’ve seen:

  1. Improved data accuracy. Supercat’s AI is incredibly precise, ensuring that products are classified correctly and consistently across our entire catalog.
  2. Enhanced search functionality. With more detailed and accurate product data, our site search has become much more powerful and effective. Customers can find what they need faster and with fewer clicks.
  3. Boost order value. Drive revenue by helping customers discover the right products, more quickly.
  4. Cost savings. By automating the classification process, Supercat has saved our team countless hours of manual work. This has allowed us to focus on other high-value tasks and has reduced our overall operational costs.
  5. Time savings. What used to take days now takes minutes. We can launch a new collection with hundreds or thousands of products in just a few minutes.
  6. Tight integration with Shopify. Supercat works seamlessly with Shopify APIs to pull product data and images, enrich that data, and then update Shopify with the new data. There are no manual processes or data transfers necessary.
